Businesses throughout the salon professional industry are doing all they can to keep staff and clients safe with the ever-worsening spread of COVID-19. The latest company to put protective measures in place is Blind Barber, which has barbershops and bars in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Philadelphia.
In a letter penned to family and friends, the brand announced that all of their locations will be closing their doors until further notice.
The decision to close did not come easily, but Blind Barber noted that this it was the best course of action.
“The depths of the emergency due to the COVID-19 crisis has put our business and community in completely uncharted territory. Blind Barber is built on the belief that there is great power in bringing people together over cuts and drinks, to enjoy community and conversation, to welcome any and all regardless of circumstance in life; but in this extraordinary time, we must prioritize the safety of our guests and staff,” they shared.
One sentiment that the company wants to make clear is that salon pros and others in the industry are not alone. “We are doing this for all of us; we are a team. Everyone has been saying, ‘this too shall pass’ and while true, it does not provide any reassurance to the stresses we are all feeling right now. We understand.”
For the time being, Blind Barber will continue to provide health care for their employees, but because of the sudden closure, they are asking for donations to help support their service-based employees and managers: “We still need help supporting our amazing employees while work is completely shut down. As a result, we are kicking off this campaign to support ALL affected employees. All funds raised will be distributed to ALL employees in equal share.”
Blind Barber will always be about creating a fun space for employees and their guests, but the safety of the community is top priority.
