Rising star Melissa Barrera is seemingly everywhere of late. Promoting multiple movies simultaneously, including Scream VI (her 2nd in the franchise), All the World is Sleeping and Carmen, the Mexican actress has been turning heads at every press stop thanks in part to hairstyles by longtime collaborator Clayton Hawkins. Whether up, down, with bangs or swept back and super sleek, we can count on the pair for a look.
Barrera’s recent appearance at the Miami Film Festival was especially show stopping. This time she wore her hair in a forever-long, what Hawkins describes as “snatched braid,” featuring a tiny kiss curl and mega watt shine. Naturally, we needed to know everything.

Get the Look
- I started by clipping 30 inch Hidden Crown extensions upside down on her head from the nape up.
- Then using tons of Sexy Hair gel and my Tangle Teezer ultimate styler, I brushed her hair into a high ponytail and secured with a bungee
- I then divided her pony into 3 equal sections, coated them and I mean COATED them in gel and braided down, securing with an elastic.
