Jacob Schwartz Shares How to Get Chloe Fineman’s New ’70s Suede Brunette

11/11/2025

When SNL star Chloe Fineman attended Vogue World (whatever that is) late last month, we clocked her new hair color immediately. The bronde-y shade was perfect but unexpected, especially because Schwarzkopf Professional U.S. Hair Color Trend AmbassadorJacob Schwartz, had just taken her much darker earlier this summer.

Naturally, we went to the source, Schwartz, to talk the shade he’s dubbed “70’s Suede Brunette.” Read on for our conversation about Fineman’s new look, the enduring appeal of dimensional color and the exact formula Schwartz used.

The Tease: Talk to us about this transformation, how did you and Chloe decide on this shade?

Jacob Schwartz: Chloe was a bit darker before, and moving into this more dimensional lighter brown felt like the perfect refresh, especially as we move into cooler months. It’s a brunette that still feels elevated and bright. We wanted something soft, textural, and modern. This shade gives her that effortless, “cool-girl” glow that shows off the depth depending on styling and lighting, that feels rich but understated.

What is a “70s Suede Brunette” and what do your fellow colorists need to know in order to get the look?

Schwartz: ’70s Suede Brunette is all about soft, creamy dimension with a subtle warmth that feels luxurious and lived-in. Think of the velvety, touchable hair you’d see in vintage ‘70s editorials. It’s brown, but with a suede-like softness that makes it a great shade for fall.

To create this look, I used Schwarzkopf Professional Igora Vario Blond Super Plus for both the highlights and the ends, keeping the brightness clean and luminous from root to tip. I finished with root gloss using Schwarzkopf Professional Igora Vibrance to blend, tone, and give the color that seamless, low-maintenance finish. The key is to preserve dimension so nothing is too flat or icy. It should feel completely natural, just more polished.

Why do you think suede-y blondes and brondes are gaining popularity? Do you expect to see more demand in the coming weeks or is it a passing trend?

Schwartz: Suede blondes and brondes are having a moment because they strike the perfect balance, people want some brightness throughout to pop without the maintenance of a high-lift blonde. There’s movement, warmth, and richness, and it complements so many skin tones.

I definitely think we’ll be seeing more of this, with clients are gravitating toward color that feels lived-in and natural with tons of shine.
