ICYIMI, “Call Her Daddy” host, and all-around media mogul, Alex Cooper, has a new docu-series for Hulu. “Call Her Alex” just debuted at the Tribeca Festival a few days ago. So did her new blonde, dubbed “velvet blonde,” by go-to celebrity hair colorist and Schwarzkopf Professional U.S. Hair Color Trend Ambassador, Jacob Schwartz.
“Alex is stepping into such a major moment in her career, and we wanted her look to reflect that—something polished, confident, and elevated, but still really true to her. She had been wearing a lighter blonde for a while, so this was about evolving that look as she embarks on this next chapter in her life,” Schwartz tells The Tease. He adds, “We’ve been seeing a shift toward deeper, richer blondes lately, and ‘Velvet Blonde’ is my take on that: luxe, dimensional, and sophisticated without feeling heavy.”
Although this shade is an obvious departure from her more playful, lighter blonde, Schwartz says it wasn’t about the shock value. According to Schwartz, he “wanted the color to feel elevated but effortless, something that didn’t overpower her, but enhanced her. The shade we landed on, what I’m calling ‘Velvet Blonde’, is warm, grounded, and versatile. It has that radiant, lived-in feel, with enough depth at the roots to grow out gracefully. Every part of the process was about balance: softness and strength, polish and ease.”
For the transformation, Schwartz used a used a combination of Schwarzkopf Professional’s Igora Zero AMM and Igora Royal to build out the tone. Colorists, Schwartz says, “the ammonia-free formula gave us this incredibly soft, multi-tonal finish that feels modern and wearable, but with that high-gloss, light-reflective quality I love in a custom blonde. It moves beautifully under lights and brings out all the character in the hair.”
