More Than a Salon

After high school, Cassondra Morse enrolled in cosmetology school while trying to figure out her path. It ended up being the first thing in her life that truly “clicked”. Naturally crafty, she found both purpose and passion in doing hair. After a manager role and some salon experience a few years after graduating, she rented a booth and built her business.
Her foundation was influenced by real mentors, especially her Great Uncle Charlie, who owned a large salon and trained stylists who were finishing up their careers just as she was starting hers. He taught her strong fundamentals like clipper cutting, and she later continued developing by working with barbers and training with Paul Mitchell.
Her ‘aha’ moment was realizing she didn’t just want hair to look good, she wanted it to be healthy inside and out. The industry used to focus on appearances, using products and techniques to mask damage. Today, she believes stylists are also educators, helping clients understand scalp health, lifestyle, maintenance, and long-term hair wellness.
That mindset was what helped her open GEMS, originally Glamorous Expressions Multicultural Salon. She noticed a select group of clients who weren’t being served because of hair type or texture. She believed stylists should know how to care for everyone without exception. GEMS was built on inclusivity and comfort and is now known for its home-like space where every client feels welcomed.
Pure Brazilian: A Healthy Hair Approach
Her love for education extends beyond styling. After years of denying any collaborations with keratin brands, she was lured back into Pure Brazilian because they are doing it right. She trusted the results and science behind it, as well as its tie to nutrition, hydration, exercise, scalp care, and lifestyle habits. Healthy hair starts with the scalp and goes far beyond the product shelf.
She explains keratin as filling potholes in a road. Hair loses keratin daily through heat, water, the environment, and product use. Pure Brazilian fills in what’s missing and rinses out the excess. This avoids buildup and protein overload, issues that have historically caused damage in the industry.
With multiple product lines, Original, Clear, and Express, clients can choose the timing and intensity that fit their lifestyle. Clients will leave with healthier, smoother hair that can even air-dry beautifully. Pure Brazilian isn’t necessarily about selling a service; it’s about offering a sustainable path to better hair.
Today, she continues growing a salon culture built on healthy hair, honest communication, and ongoing education. Her mission remains clear: serve everyone, educate always, and help people love both their hair and themselves long term.
