While mastering new techniques is certainly important when it comes to developing a lasting and successful career in the salon professional industry, it’s just as important to have business skills.
That’s why the Professional Beauty Association (PBA) has recently launched its Beauty Business Career Accelerator Series (BBCA) to provide junior beauty pros with elevated business education to help grow their careers in the industry. Strategically located across the United States, these full-day, specially curated workshops are taught by top local educators and designed to empower and equip junior stylists—including new talent, Level 1 stylists, and apprentices—to be the best in the business. Additionally, following each event’s single day session, there are networking opportunities available for attendees.
“While the industry has an array of excellent technical programs for beauty professionals to hone their craft, PBA recognizes the need for education that focuses on the business and professional knowledge needed to help junior beauty professionals achieve lasting career success,” shares Nina Daily, PBA Executive Director. “Our goal is to remove barriers associated with lengthy travel, high cost, and time spent away from work, while still upholding the highest standards in education. The overarching mission of the Beauty Business Career Accelerator Series is to support PBA’s initiatives to elevate, unite, and serve the professional beauty industry.”
So, just what can stylists expect from these BBCA workshops? Well, for starters, each session will run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM—no matter the location. The first half of each program will reflect Artist Standards, including goal setting, career development, and how to deliver results. This portion of the program will also include group exercises that encourage participants to look inward and uncover who they want to be as a professional, their commitment to themselves and the salon, and their overall responsibilities. The second half will focus on how to apply those goals within the salon to achieve career success and touch on important topics like consultation, the client experience, rebooking, retention, increasing ticket price, and product and service recommendations. Each event will close with interactive activities in which participants will network with educators, participate in technical demonstrations with regional celebrities and hear from distributors and other industry pros.
To start, the Beauty Business Career Accelerator Series will consist of four classes across the country. Stylists are encouraged to attend at the location that is most convenient for them:
