Exciting things are happening over at the Professional Beauty Federation of California. The professional beauty trade association has appointed Salon Republic founder, Eric Taylor, as its Board Chair and CEO. In his new role, Taylor will be responsible for driving the organization’s growth, expanding its advocacy on behalf of beauty professionals, establishment owners, and other industry stakeholders, and deepening the Beauty Federation’s relationship within the industry, according to a press release.

Professional Beauty Federation’s CEO and Board Chair, Eric Taylor

For those unfamiliar with Taylor’s Salon Republic, his hair salon is an industry leader of salon studios and was the first studio-concept salon in California, which has the largest beauty and barbering economy in the nation. Since launching his first salon location in Southern California in 2000, the beauty pro has been able to expand his business to over 22 locations in four states. Now, Taylor hopes to bring his entrepreneurial spirit to the Beauty Federation as the trade association embarks on a number of new initiatives to serve its growing membership and continue to build its influence among industry professionals, policymakers, regulators, and the general public.

“The beauty industry has been good to me, and I want to give back,” says Taylor, in regards to his recent appointment. “The PBFC’s mission is simple and one that I have been committed to since beginning Salon Republic, namely: raising the professional tide to lift the livelihoods and businesses of everyone in the barbering and beauty sector.”

As the PFBC’s new Board Chair and CEO, Taylor will work to expand the benefits of joining the trade association for stylists, barbers, nail techs, estheticians, and other beauty pros. In addition, he will spearhead the vision, strategy, and expansion of education initiatives both in-person and virtual, while informing their elected and regulatory officials, as well as the public on the indispensable nature of the beauty trade. Working with his board colleagues, Taylor will lead the Beauty Federation team and membership to reach a stronger level of advocacy for the critical issues impacting the beauty industry now and in the future, especially as the industry works to recover from the devastating impacts of the Covid pandemic.

Speaking on Taylor’s new leadership role, PBFC Founder and former Board Chair Bob Gross shared, “Eric’s enthusiasm and can-do attitude, as well as the respect and connections he’s earned and developed in our industry, will give an immediate and sustaining boost to the PBFC mission and help lift the lives of all whom we serve.”

Fellow PBFC Founder and President and Chair Emeritus Ted Nelson shared Gross’s sentiments adding, “Eric’s thoughtful demeanor and acquired insights will serve our industry well in his new servant-leader capacity. Eric will build upon our record of accomplishments, developed over the past two decades, propelling the PBFC to the next level of success and influence.”
