Wearing Every Hat: From Behind the Chair to Leading Aloxxi

01/12/2026

To kick off the new season of Volume Up by the Tease, we dive into the journey of a hairdresser who has done it all. From working behind the chair, running salons, and now leading education and innovation at Aloxxi, Jessica Wall-Inella wears many hats!

Growing up surrounded by hairstylists, Jessica was inspired early on by her aunt, a hairdresser. During college, she worked three jobs while attending school, starting as a receptionist at Supercuts. By age 21, she attended hair school and became the Area Supervisor for 33 salons. This role forced her to step into leadership by making tough decisions, and developing her skills with managing teams of experienced professionals. Reflecting on that period, she shares, “I definitely ruffled some feathers and overcompensated for my age. It was hard, but it taught me to sit, listen, and think before opening my mouth. Try inspiring people instead of just firing people.”

She spent years running commission-based salons in NYC and continues to own a salon today. Her path eventually led her to Aloxxi, where she now leads a team focused on professional education, marketing, and sales. Just about everything but the warehouse work.

Aloxxi Education

At Aloxxi, the approach is different. “We understand what everyday behind the chair is like,” she says. “We create real hairdresser content, led by hairdressers, not a marketing department.” From hands-on trends programs to business techniques designed to save time and attract the right clientele, Aloxxi strives to meet hairdressers where they are.

The episode also explores the education side of the business. Jessica breaks down different types of learners: those who learn visually and can recreate later, those who need step-by-step guidance by her side, and those who prefer in-person touch of feeling hair and asking questions. Aloxxi’s programs are designed to meet these varying learning styles while progressing. Collaboration and mentorship are at the heart of her leadership philosophy. She loves seeing direct results from clients, students, her kids, etc. That is how she measures her success.

She also reflects on how Aloxxi functions like a large Italian family. Decision-making is collaborative by drawing from teams around the globe, and constantly evolving with new programs, including added science-based education initiatives. The goal is to make the tools, knowledge, and support that hairdressers need, easier to access so they can thrive creatively and professionally.

Listen to this episode if you’re in the hair industry, or if you’re curious about what it takes to turn hands-on experience into leadership and inspiration.
