A new face is joining the Wella Professionals family! Today, the professional hair brand announced that textured hair color expert, educator, and award-winning hairstylist Dereq Clark has been named their newest brand ambassador.

Wella Professionals brand ambassador Dereq Clark

Clark couldn’t be more suited to the role considering his known expertise of all hair textures, dimensional color, and trendy cutting techniques.

“My new role as a Wella Professionals North America Ambassador is important to me because it gives me an opportunity to showcase a versatile side of hairstyling and coloring on all hair types, but particularly textured hair,” he said, in a statement. “Representation matters, and to set a new standard for underrepresented hair stylists of color means a great deal to me.”

A well sought-after stylist, expert, and educator in the hair industry, Clark brings over 20 years of experience to Wella’s brand ambassador team. Having trained under both Vidal Sassoon as well as Wella Studio, he has been able to develop various techniques and signature styles including Dereq C Tousle, Designer Cut, and Luxury Hair Color. Not to mention, Clark has also spent time providing education and training to stylists across the country through workshops and one-on-one mentoring with peers.

Speaking on Clark’s recent appointment, Carole Protat, Senior Director of Brand Education, shared: “Dereq’s accomplishments behind the chair and beyond are exceptional. His diverse educational background, mastery of all hair textures, and passion for transforming his clients’ confidence through each hair appointment perfectly exemplifies the future of our industry and makes him the perfect addition to the Wella Professionals family.”

For Clark, this partnership with Wella offers more than just the chance to show off his keen eye for detail and abstract way of seeing color placement, but an opportunity to “bring inclusion and representation to the beauty industry.”

“There is value and validation in seeing yourself represented across brands and platforms.” he shared. “It brings me joy that Wella has provided me with a platform to show other stylists who look like me that they matter. I’d like to be that beacon of hope.”
