Thinking About an “Inside Out Approach”

If you’re into a holistic vibe, Damtew loves Vegamour. She says, “Vegamour has a bunch of different holistic wellness kits, including the Vegamour Gro+ Advanced System that has daily supplements.” She adds, “in general, Vegamor has a lot of technology that will help promote hair health.” So if you’re looking for thickness and do not have any known predispositions or medical conditions, their Grow+ Advanced System products be something to consider adding to cart.

Moisture & “Quick Repairs”

Damtew swears by OLAPLEX’s Weightless Nourishing Mask and the Rich Hydration Mask after trying them out for herself. For clients in a hurry, Damtew says the masks can make a difference in as little as “four to five minutes.”

For Scalp Care & Product Build-Up

Damtew loves Briogeo’s Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Buildup Detox Spray ($26.00) and Shampoo ($42.00). She says the shampoo in particular is soothing and has a “wonderful feeling on the scalp.” She adds that it “clarifies in a way that isn’t overly aggressive.”
She also always goes back to amika’s Normcore Nourishing Shampoo ($27.00) — her “old faithful” — for gentle clarifying and regular maintenance. For a clarifying treatment after coming out of braids or when her scalp has a lot of build up, Damtew grabs amika’s The Reset Clarifying Gel Shampoo ($30.00). She says it’s “moisturizing and clarifying enough that it won’t take all of the oils out of your hair.”
For Length Retention and Curl Preservation

Damtew gravitates towards amika’s The Wizard Detangling Hair Primer ($32.00) and their Hydro Rush Intense Moisture Leave-In Conditioner with Hyaluronic Acid spray ($31.00). According to her, “both do amazing things for curls.” The Wizard can be applied as a detangling primer for mini twists or two-strand twists and then followed up with HydroRush to refresh curls.
More Haircare Favorites

In case you were wondering, K18 products are among her go-to’s. Damtew tells The Tease that she loves the HeatBounce Leave-In Conditioner Heat Protectant ($48.00) and Damage Shield pH Protective Shampoo ($39.00).
