Andrew Glass Shares Why It Was Time to Rebrand — Meet NGS Beauty

08/13/2025

Clean skin care and hair care brand Non Gender Specific just revamped the brand’s name to NGS Beauty. The industry is constantly changing, and rebrands are almost a must for a brand’s lifeline; however, NGS Beauty has only been in the market for seven years. So, out of curiosity, The Tease asked its Founder, Andrew Glass, why now and more.

NGS Beauty is a genderless, botanical-rich, science-backed skincare brand that made its first foray into hair care in July 2024. The brand has always proudly created gender neutral products for all consumers because “skin is skin,” Glass told The Tease back then.

Glass said the name change has been in their plans for the last couple of years. “Once we decided to launch all new packaging and new formulas, it just made sense to align that with a name change,” Glass explained. “While I personally loved ‘Non Gender Specific,’ it was quite polarizing for others, which led to the brand being misclassified often. Most referred to us as ‘NGS,’ so changing to NGS Beauty was an obvious choice — it’s more universal and still has ties to the original.”

When we asked if the decision had received any pushback from consumers or the industry, Glass said not at all. He explained that those close to the brand have been incredibly supportive, and many have already called the brand NGS.

“Many have said it feels like a natural evolution rather than a complete change, since ‘NGS’ was already a familiar nickname,” he added.

The brand is not only changing its name, Glass said the brand is also rolling out completely refreshed packaging, eliminating plastic packaging completely, and releasing new products with upgraded formulas that Glass said “are even more efficacious and sustainable.”

“We’ve also refined our product lineup to focus on our hero formulas while introducing exciting new innovations,” Glass explained. As for marketing, he added NGS will be “launching a multi-phase marketing campaign to introduce NGS Beauty, starting with social and digital storytelling that celebrates our journey from Non Gender Specific to NGS.”

NGS will partner with influencers, makeup artists, and skincare professionals to highlight the reimagined products, and have popup activations in key markets so customers can experience the rebrand firsthand.

“You’ll also see NGS Beauty visuals popping up all over NYC this Fall,” Glass explained. “I love how the new look and name feel modern, confident, and approachable while still honoring where we came from. The visual identity is sleek & elevated yet warm, the formulas are our best ever, and the simplified name makes it easier for us to connect with a wider audience without losing our inclusive roots.”
