When two iconic R&B queens come together, you know you’re in for an unforgettable night. Turns out that’s exactly what we got on Monday night (Aug. 31st) when Brandy and Monica reunited for what can only be described as the greatest musical battle of all time.
During the three-hour long Verzuz showdown (watch it here), hits were played, Moesha-worthy poems were shared, and that rumored decades-long feud was finally put to rest. Oh and the duo even gave us a live 2020 rendition of their iconic duet “The Boy is Mine.” To put it simply, the entire night was #blackgirlmagic at its finest. To the surprise of absolutely no one, their session shattered major records, bringing in 1.2 million views on the Instagram livestream.
With all the ‘90s nostalgia that was served up that night, we couldn’t help but reminisce about all the epic hair moments that Brandy and Monica have blessed us with over the years. Here are some of our favorite hair looks from the two musical legends.

At the 1998 MTV Music Awards, the R&B legends not only slayed their first live performance of their iconic “The Boy is Mine” duet, but also the red carpet with these killer looks. Monica looked gorgeous with a curled updo with some face-framing tendrils while Brandy styled her braids in a spiky half-up half-down hairdo.
