ICYMI, earlier this month, fashion stylist Lindsey Hartman organized a star-studded LA Fire Relief Concert and Auction, called G*VE A F*CK LA. Paramore lead singer and solo artist Hayley Williams headlined the show, and debuted a wild new hair color by celebrity hairstylist Good Dye Young co-Founder Brian O’Connor. (Williams is the other co-founder.)
The look, layered thanks to strategically placed multi-colored extensions added to Williams’s platinum bob, was a bit of a return to form for the pair — reminiscent of their earlier, more adventurous collaborations. A hit of nostalgia, trendy because of the shape, but future-facing because of the neon acid trip color combinations. The Tease needed to know everything, so we got in touch with O’Connor and he generously spilled all.
The Tease: Tell us how the color was done!
Brian O’Connor: The colors used were all GDY shades, some new coming in, our Glitched collection — neon green — [and the] others are old shades. The navy blue was a mix — dream big/killswitch/none more black — and the citrus yellow/orange is something I’ve been working on with the lab that doesn’t even exist yet, still working out some kinks to get the perfect shade! (Editor’s note: Good Dye Young’s Glitched Collection launched today and is available at Amazon.)

I did the process on prelightened platinum 613 The Hair Shop extensions. All the vivid color you saw on Hayley was actually extensions that I had dyed to layer throughout her hair.
Talk to us about the inspiration for this look and how it was accomplished.
O’Connor: Why! Beacuse I think both Hayley and I have been playing it safe in terms of haircolor on her lately and we just wanted to do something really fresh and exciting. I have been really inspired by a lot of Japanese hair and hairstylists and this was the product that came from that inspiration.

How! [It] came down to landing on the right shades for this look making sure it was also in line with outfit as well as over all emotion — that really is a big part of how we get here. From there, I executed my patterns and where I wanted to display them within Hayley’s own hair!
What will Hayley be using for post service care at home? And what should stylists recommend that guests use when getting similar results?
O’Connor: Post service go to is always GDY Wash, Rinse, Prime for color retention every other wash. I have her use Epres Healthy Hair Shampoo and Conditioner to help with repairing her bleached locks. Washing and rinsing in cooler water is always a must to maintain the vivid brightness of the colors!
