Singer and songwriter Charli XCX brought her signature sultry energy to this 2025 Met Gala. The artist showed up in Ann Demeulemeester micro shorts under a silk chiffon skirt and a blazer adorned with feather trims, which also were incorporated on the top portion of her look. An angelic look altogether.
Celebrity hairstylist Matt Benns created a mid-hair updo with a cascade of waves that worked seamlessly with the singer’s show-stopping jewelry: black, large feather earcuffs.
Benns achieved the gothic hairstyle for the Met Gala using Wavytalk’s Turblow Pro and Curlmaker Pro to give off this romantic, black swan look. The Tease was lucky enough to get all the details from Benns on how he crafted Charli XCX’s look for the 2025 Met Gala.
Get the Look:
- On freshly washed hair, Benns sprayed and detangled, used a curling cream, and diffused with Wavyalk’s Turblow Pro with the diffuser attachment.
- Once dry, he used the Wavytalk Curlmaker Pro, the two of the smaller size barrel attachments to create a real looking texture mixing the sizes.
- Benns then pulled two pieces of the front to frame the face and pulled the hair half up into a twisted type unsymmetrical bun. He said the style “should give off a romantic and little punky twist. It needs to feel really random, not symmetrical.”
- He then added the feather ear cuffs and glued a feather onto the skin to blend the feathers into the skin.
- He finished the look with texturizing spray and shine spray to hold and give the hair its final touches.
