Now that springtime is officially here and warmer weather is slowly but surely starting to arrive, your clients are more than likely feeling the urge to give their hair a major refresh. Fortunately, you don’t have to look too far for some inspiration when it comes to their next hairstyle, because there has been no shortage of cool Spring 2024 hair trends popping up on social media and beyond. By the looks of it, this season is shaping up to be a very fun one for hair as styles will be bigger, wetter, and more side-parted than ever before.

For some expert insights, The Tease tapped celebrity hairstylist and founder of Nick Stenson Beauty, Nick Stenson, to break down five of the trendiest looks of the season and share his tips for how to achieve them using products from his haircare line. Keep scrolling for his product picks as well as his best tips and tricks.

Texan Hair

Call it the Beyoncé effect, but the singer’s recent turn to country music has inspired a massive Western style takeover that now has us all chasing Texas-sized hair this season. Staying true to the saying that “everything is bigger in Texas,” Texan hair is reminiscent of the big, bouncy hair that’s pretty much a signature of the Lone Star State and other Southern states like Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. As this dramatic style is known for its volume and height, you’ll want to make sure to add some gravity-defying lift at the roots as well as some massive curls to the hair to offer some additional volume when achieving this look with your clients.

Get the Look:

  1. Prep the hair with Nick Stenson Beauty Volume Shampoo ($34.00) and Volume Conditioner ($34.00) to produce long-lasting volume.
  2. Apply Nick Stenson Beauty Volume Creme ($36.00) to damp hair in a liberal manner and brush through with a detangling brush.
  3. To dry hair, use a medium round brush with your hair dryer on a medium heat and high speed to produce a bouncy blowout.
  4. Once the hair is completely dry, apply Nick Stenson Beauty Light Hold Hair Spray ($34.00) throughout hair in small sections and brush through with a cushioned brush.
  5. Next, I suggest using hot rollers to set the hair in a classic roller set with roughly 2-inch sections, being mindful to roll the fringe and crown hair away from the face.
  6. After allowing the rollers to cool completely, remove them and shake hair gently.
  7. Lastly, use Nick Stenson Beauty Light Hold Hair Spray ($34.00) to set your full-volume style.
  8. Pro Tip: If you have soft/fine hair that tends to fall flat, incorporate Nick Stenson Beauty Texture Spray ($34.00) in the last step for a longer lasting volume.

Hydro Bob

If you loved last season’s trending boy bob, allow us to introduce you to a new style that’s a fresh twist on the androgynous cut: the “hydro” bob. First coined by hairstylist and trend forecaster Tom Smith, the hydro bob is a shorter cut that typically sits between the lips and mid-neck in terms of length and has a semi-wet finish that looks as if the hair has been “drenched in moisture and gloss.” While this bob definitely makes a statement, it is extremely wearable and can easily be tailored to fit a person’s features.

Get the Look:

  1. Prep hair with Nick Stenson Beauty Moisture Shampoo ($34.00) and Conditioner ($34.00) for maximum hydration.
  2. Next, apply Nick Stenson Beauty Smoothing Creme ($36.00) to damp hair and blow-dry hair with the dryer directed toward the floor to produce a sleek effect with minimal volume.
  3. Create a slight diagonal side part and apply Nick Stenson Beauty Hydrating Oil ($44.00) liberally to produce a gentle wet look to the hair and tuck the lesser portion of hair behind one ear.
  4. Finalize the style with Nick Stenson Beauty Light Hold Hair Spray ($34.00) to smooth any fly aways and maintain sleekness in the style.

Side Bangs

Remember when just a few years ago Gen Z declared that side parts—and by extension, side bangs— were “cheugy”? Well, what was once “out” is officially “in” again, because we are currently in the midst of a full-blown side bangs renaissance. As to be expected, the 2024 take on side bangs is much sleeker and chicer than the style that we all frequently sported in the early aughts and 2010s. The modern side bangs have more of a dramatic swoop and are not so plastered to one side.

Get the Look:

  1. To style side bangs and ensure that they stay in place, it’s important to prep hair with Nick Stenson Beauty Volume Shampoo ($34.00) and Volume Conditioner ($34.00).
  2. Start styling by applying Nick Stenson Beauty Root Lifter Spray ($36.00) on damp hair in the bang section.
  3. Once applied, use a soft paddle brush to direct bangs back and forth, across your side part to build a natural volume as you blow-dry. Once 90% dry, use a small round brush, placed vertically in the hair, to direct the bangs in the direction they will lay.
  4. Finish with Nick Stenson Beauty Light Hold Hair Spray ($34.00) to hold your side bangs in place.

Feathered Layers

Feathered face-framing layers are one of the latest ‘90s hair trends to experience a revival this spring. As light and airy as its name may suggest, this hairstyle is created through carefully placed fine layers that are generally shorter around the front of your face and then increase in length towards the sides. With this look, you want the hair to almost resemble the delicate, wispy layers of a bird’s feathers. While feathered layers do tend to work better with finer, straighter hair textures, this look can be achieved on just about any hair length.

Get the Look:

  1. Prep hair with Nick Stenson Beauty Volume Shampoo ($34.00)  and Volume Conditioner ($34.00) for a last style.
  2. To begin styling your feather layers, apply Nick Stenson Beauty Leave-In Conditioner ($36.00) on damp hair throughout mid-length and ends and evenly distribute through hair with a detangling brush.
  3. Next, apply Nick Stenson Beauty Root Lifter Spray ($36.00) throughout the root area of the hair and apply a small amount of Nick Stenson Beauty Smoothing Creme ($36.00) to the mid lengths and ends.
  4. Using a large cushion brush, dry hair focusing on volume at the crown and smoothing towards the ends.
  5. Once dry, prep the hair for curling by applying Nick Stenson Beauty Light Hold Hair Spray ($34.00) and use a 1.5” curling iron to curl all hair back and away from the face, then allow it to cool.
  6. Lastly, rake through your hair using your fingers or a large tooth comb and gently apply Nick Stenson Texture Spray ($34.00) to the ends for a lasting aerated effect.

Kitty Cut

We’re happy to report that animal cuts are still as popular as ever for the springtime. While last year may have been dominated by the wolf cut, this year, it’s all about the kitty cut. Unlike its edgier and shaggier counterpart, the kitty cut is much sleeker and softer with a more polished feel. Characterized by finer face-framing layers and a collarbone skimming length, this trending cut accentuates the cheekbones and enhances the eyes, creating a feline allure. Suitable for all hair textures and face shapes, the kitty cut makes for a great transitional cut for anyone currently sporting a box bob or curtain bang.

Get the Look:

  1. Begin by cleansing and conditioning with Nick Stenson Beauty Volume Shampoo ($34.00) and Volume Conditioner ($34.00).
  2. On damp hair, apply Nick Stenson Beauty Volume Creme ($36.00) to mid lengths and ends, then apply Nick Stenson Beauty Root Lifter Spray ($36.00) to the fringe and crown area for additional volume building.
  3. Beginning at the fringe and front hairline, blow dry hair to create volume using a medium size round brush to produce volume and movement in the hair. Pro Tip: Dry the fringe down toward the face and then away from the face to produce a sweeping effect.
  4. Once all hair is dry, prep hair with Nick Stenson Beauty Light Hold Hair Spray ($34.00) and use a flat iron to create soft “S”-shaped bends in the hair and gently direct the ends of the fringe away from the face.
  5. Lastly, brush through with a soft paddle brush and lightly mist with Nick Stenson Beauty Light Hold Hair Spray ($34.00).
