Ellen Devine, part of the Sam Villa ArTeam and Master Stylist at Reverie Beauty Co., says, “Spring is the perfect time to refresh hair, and cutting off longer lengths that endured the dry winter months is a great place to start. Bobs are still having a major moment this season, but with a shift in how they are layered and styled, giving the look a fresh modern feel.”
A recent example of the trend came from Demi Moore who wore an edgy bob wig during FW26 in Milan, creating a standout look that perfectly captures the seasonal shift.
“The beauty of a blunt soft textured bob is its versatility. It can be worn polished and professional, yet it air-dries nicely, making it ideal for spring and summer months,” adds Devine.
Devine believes that anyone can wear a bob — it’s all about customizing the texture. “On thicker hair incorporate more point cutting and thinning to remove weight. On finer or less dense hair, point cut more shallowly to maintain fullness. The principle remains the same, but the amount of texture added, shifts based on hair density.”

Cutting Tips:
- Focus on using small sections when cutting wet for control and precision.
- Try taking horizontal sections and notching into the perimeter with shears at a 45° angle. This can be done wet while cutting length or dry after the length is established for that textured look on the perimeter.
