Brandi LaShay, US Barber Ambassador
The Tease: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your journey in the barbering industry?
Brandi LaShay: My name is Brandi LaShay. Mother, woman, barber, educator, sister, daughter, writer, author, explorer and daughter of the King. It’s been a colorful journey to say the least. I began this journey 30 years ago by picking up a pair of clippers and never putting them down. As an African-American woman in the barbering industry, my journey has been both challenging and rewarding. Entering a field traditionally dominated by men, I was driven by a passion for the craft and a desire to create spaces where everyone feels welcome. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills, built a loyal clientele, and established a barbershop that serves as a community hub — a place where stories are shared, healing takes place and connections are made.
How did you first get connected with Booksy and how has it impacted your business?
Brandi LaShay: I was approached by Booksy in Orlando for a Barber battle that took place during the halftime of the Orlando Magic game. Booksy had a booth set up to help encourage other industry leaders to try a new way of booking their appointments, and had their representatives meet with me for lunch prior to the start of the game. They showed me their platform and how it worked and reassured me that they could help me to not only organize my schedule with my clients, but could significantly increase my sales. Every feature was so thoughtful and uniquely tailored to my business needs. Booksy has changed the way I run my business and personal life. Booksy’s been just the catalyst my business needed to begin streamlining my scheduling, reduced no-shows, and provided clients with the convenience of online booking. This allowed me to focus more on my craft and less on administrative tasks, leading to increased client satisfaction and business growth.
How have you fostered a community with Booksy?
Brandi LaShay: Building community is at the heart of what I do. Through Booksy, I’ve connected with clients and collaborated with fellow barbers, creating a network of support and shared knowledge. By participating in Booksy’s community initiatives, I’ve met numerous beauty and barbering professionals who have become integral to my journey, offering support, collaboration, and shared growth.
What strategies do you use as an ambassador to engage your local community through Booksy and attract new clients?
Brandi LaShay: In today’s digital age, a heavy social media presence is crucial. Sharing my work online not only showcases my skills but also attracts potential clients. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok allow me to reach a broader audience, and by linking my Booksy profile, I provide an easy pathway for bookings. This has undoubtedly led to a noticeable increase in appointments, as clients appreciate the convenience and transparency
What tips would you give to other beauty/barbering pros looking to increase their bookings and expand their clientele using Booksy? How does Booksy support your growth?
Brandi LaShay: For fellow beauty and barbering professionals looking to expand their clientele, I recommend posting your work consistently and getting the people excited about who you are, what message you’re trying to give and what you have to offer as a beauty professional. Booksy’s features such as Boost, which enhances your visibility to potential clients. Booksy’s marketing tools, like automated reminders and promotions, have been instrumental in my business growth, keeping clients engaged and informed.
What types of innovation does Booksy have to help increase your growth?
Brandi LaShay: Innovation is key to staying ahead in this industry, and Booksy continually evolves to support our needs. Features like Tap to Pay and the Booksy Card Reader simplify transactions, while the platform’s analytics provide insights into business performance, helping identify areas for improvement and growth. I love it here!
What are some key elements that have been helpful when growing your brand?
Brandi LaShay: Balancing personal branding while promoting services on Booksy for sure. It’s the consistency of organizational intelligence. Booksy has thought of everything you may need as a beauty professional to win, and once you implement these elements on a consistent basis, growth will be synonymous with your business name.
Are there any beauty pros on Booksy whose accounts you follow or refer to as an example?
Brandi LaShay: Self discovery is the name of the game and platforms like Booksy have not only facilitated business growth but also connected me with a network of professionals and clients who inspire and support me daily. Speaking of, NGL! @chinanails I’ve got my eye on you! I can’t wait to see my first appointment.
Celeste Márquez, US Nails Ambassador
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your journey in the beauty industry?
Celeste Márquez: My name is Celeste Márquez, better known as Celeste M Beauty. I’m Mexican and bilingual, which allows me to connect with both English- and Spanish-speaking clients. I’ve been in the nail industry for over nine years and a nail instructor for more than six. Teaching and helping others grow in this field is my passion, whether they’re just starting or looking to perfect their skills. I’ve also had the opportunity to travel both within the U.S. and internationally, including Spain, to teach and share my expertise.
How did you first get connected with Booksy and how has it impacted your business?
Celeste Márquez: I discovered Booksy at a networking event in Orlando, where I met some of the team members. At the time, I was already looking to switch from my current booking site because it was making things difficult. After learning more about Booksy, I knew it was the right choice. Since then, it has helped streamline my business and even opened doors for me to travel internationally to teach, which was a huge milestone. One thing I love is that Booksy makes it easy for my non-English-speaking clients to book, ensuring that language is never a barrier.
What made you decide to become an ambassador for the platform and what does that entail?
Celeste Márquez: I became an ambassador first because I genuinely love the app. Second, after meeting the team in person, I immediately connected with them. As an ambassador, I share my experience, educate other beauty pros on how to maximize Booksy’s features, and promote the benefits of using the platform. It’s been an amazing opportunity to help others grow while expanding my own brand.
How have you fostered community with Booksy?
Celeste Márquez: I’ve used Booksy not just as a booking tool but as a way to build relationships with my clients and other beauty professionals. By keeping my profile updated, sharing client reviews, and promoting my availability, I create trust and engagement. I also share tips and behind-the-scenes content to connect with others in the industry. Being bilingual has also helped me create a space where both English- and Spanish-speaking clients feel comfortable booking and reaching out for services.
What strategies do you use as an ambassador to engage your local community through Booksy and attract new clients?
Celeste Márquez: One of my main strategies is leveraging social media. I create content that showcases my work, the ease of booking through Booksy, and client testimonials. I also network with other professionals in the industry, collaborate on projects, and encourage clients to leave reviews, which helps attract new clients. Since Booksy simplifies booking for my Spanish-speaking clients, I also highlight that in my content to reach a broader audience.
Have you met any beauty pros through Booksy that have joined your community and supported you?
Celeste Márquez: Yes! I’ve connected with other talented beauty pros who have not only become friends but have also supported me through collaborations, referrals, and even taking my classes. The beauty industry is all about networking, and Booksy has helped me expand that network both locally and internationally.
In what ways have you found that social media presence increases your bookings? Why do you think that?
Celeste Márquez: Social media has been a game-changer for my business. By consistently posting my work, engaging with my audience, and showcasing my expertise, I build trust and credibility. When people see high-quality work and client reviews, they’re more likely to book.
Social media also allows me to reach a larger audience, beyond just my local area. Plus, since I’m bilingual, I can connect with both English- and Spanish-speaking clients, expanding my reach even more.
What tips would you give to other beauty pros looking to increase their bookings and expand their clientele using Booksy? How does Booksy support your growth?
Celeste Márquez: Keep your Booksy profile updated with high-quality photos, service descriptions, and prices. Encourage clients to leave reviews—it builds trust and attracts new clients. Use Booksy’s marketing tools, like promotions and last-minute openings, to fill your schedule. Share your Booksy link on social media so clients can book instantly.
Booksy makes it easy to manage appointments, send reminders, and track client history, which helps keep everything running smoothly. Plus, for bilingual beauty pros like me, it helps reach a wider audience by making the booking process accessible to Spanish-speaking clients.
What types of innovation does Booksy have to help increase your growth?
Celeste Márquez: Booksy’s features like automated reminders, online payments, and marketing tools help streamline business operations. Their promotions feature is also great for running special deals and attracting new clients. Plus, the client review system builds credibility and brings in more bookings.
How has Booksy helped you build your personal brand within the beauty industry?
Celeste Márquez: Booksy has given me a professional platform where clients can see my work, read reviews, and book services easily. Having everything in one place makes my brand look polished and credible, which is important for growth. It also allows me to market myself to a diverse audience, ensuring that language barriers don’t stop me from growing my clientele.

Kimberly Tay: I’m Kimberly Tay — a Los Angeles based hair artist, educator and photographer who has been in the industry for almost 15 years. What strategies do you use as an ambassador to engage your local community through Booksy and attract new clients?
Kimberly Tay: A big part of it is education and visibility. I create content that highlights how Booksy simplifies the booking experience for both artists and clients. Have you met any beauty/barbering pros through Booksy that have joined your community and supported you?

Kimberly Tay: It’s given me a platform to showcase my work professionally. Clients can see my portfolio, read reviews and book instantly — all in one place. That level of accessibility reinforces my brand’s credibility and helps me stand out.
What are some key elements that have been helpful when growing your brand?
Kimberly Tay: I’d say the top 3 would be — authenticity, consistency, and quality. I make sure my content reflects my unique style, I engage with and support my community regularly, and I invest in high quality visuals that align with my brand.
How do you showcase balancing your personal brand while also promoting your services on Booksy? Are there any specific stylists on Booksy whose accounts you refer to as an example?
