Inside Sebastian Professional’s ‘Evolution’

03/31/2026

Sebastian [Professional] is having a total evolution, not a reinvention,” says Marylle Koken, Sebastian Professional Creative Ambassador and celebrity hairstylist. You know her work from Gabbriette and Ruth Radelet and content creators Robert Gigliotti and Ethan Gaskill. “It has the same creative DNA but now with a modern identity, refined portfolio, and packaging that matches who Sebastian has always been.”

Coming fresh with refined packaging and a streamlined product portfolio, Sebastian Professional’s Dark Oil collection has been remodeled to perfectly reflect the brand’s standout edginess. Something that’s set them apart from all other brands for decades. In addition to the upgraded look and design, the launch of the Shaper ShineSpritz Non-Aerosol Strong Hold & Shine Finishing Spray is here to change the game. This product adds on to the legacy of Sebastian’s iconic Shaper line while delivering lightweight shine and flexible hold.

To celebrate this iconic relaunch, the brand organized an intimate industry gathering at The Harlot Salon on Melrose Avenue in the heart of West Hollywood. Hosted by Koken herself, the event offered stylists and media a closer look at the refreshed brand identity, new product innovation, and the creative philosophy driving Sebastian Professional’s next chapter.

One of the brand’s core ideologies is that styling should be fluid and personalized. Their products are designed to be layered and customized, which allows stylists to create creative looks that reflect their own artistic point of view.

“One of my favorite things about Sebastian is the freedom the products give you,” Koken explains “They’re designed to be mixed, layered, and customized so you can create your own signature cocktails.”

Through live cutting and styling demonstrations (Editor’s note: I was able to get a trim at the event), conversations around signature haircutting, and more, the event was the perfect first look at how Sebastian Professional’s evolution can come to life in salons.
