Move Over Middle Parts — Side Parts Are Officially Cool Again

01/05/2023

Despite being declared uncool by Gen Z influencers on TikTok only three years ago, side parts are suddenly seeing a renaissance. Yes, that’s right. Side parts are officially no longer “cheugy”

After years of having middle parts dominate the hair scene, the tide has officially turned and side parts are suddenly everywhere again—and they’re looking chicer than ever. In 2023, the dramatic, deep side parts that once ruled the early 2010s have been given a more modern spin that’s sleeker and much more current. Whether styled tucked in or left hanging out, the beauty of the side part is that not only does it look extremely flattering on just about everyone, but it also pairs well with an array of different hairstyles—waves, curls, locs, braids, and even bobs. With that said, if you’re a stylist who tends to favor styling a middle part, now might be the time to finally consider flipping your part onto the side!

As it stands, the celebrity set has already fully embraced deep side parting with the likes of Megan Thee Stallion, Kim Kardashian, and Miley Cyrus recently experimenting with the growing trend. Ahead, take a look at just a few of the celebs that have been helping to spearhead the side part revival.

Miley Cyrus

Make like Miley Cyrus and go for an uber-cool, grungy vibe by sporting a deep side part with bleach-blond locks and black lowlights.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian went for a side part with some extra volume and it looks so good paired with her platinum blonde dye job.

Megan Thee Stallion

Take it from celebrity hairstylist Kellon Deryck, a side part even looks amazing with short hairstyles like this gorgeous pressed business bob that he styled for Megan Thee Stallion.

Simone Ashley

Let it be known that messy, tumbling curls and a deep side part make for quite a killer combination. Celebrity hairstylist Peter Lux totally nailed this look for Simone Ashley.

Zoey Deutch

Go for big bombshell vibes by opting for an ultra-voluminous, face-framing side part like this one that celebrity hairstylist Gregory Russell styled for Zoey Deutch.

Sydney Sweeney

For an effortlessly stunning hair moment, try for a blown-out side part paired with loose waves like this hairstyle that celebrity hairstylist Glen Coco created for Sydney Sweeney.

Lindsey Lohan

Serve up some serious glamour by pinning a sleek side part underneath a layer of long waves celebrity hairstylist Danielle Priano did for Lindsey Lohan with this hairstyle.
