Recreate the Statement-Making Hair From the Christopher John Rogers FW 2025 Show

02/09/2025

Backstage at the Christopher John Rogers FW 2025 show, editorial hairstylist Sonny Molina crafted several striking hair looks that embodied the new collection’s bold aesthetic. CJR is known as a bold brand that isn’t afraid of daring choices and this collection is called “exhale,” likely in reference to the topsy-turvy political moment in which we find ourselves.

Molina described this collaboration as trust-driven and organic, allowing for creative freedom and refinement. The runway hair was designed to complement the collection’s structured silhouettes, enhancing the overall impact and giving us all something to fawn over.

Below, with the help of Bumble and .bumble who partnered with CJR for the FW25 runway show production, we break down the key hairstyles.

The Bang Look

This look features a strong, structured bang, representing a confident woman who makes decisive choices—mirroring the collection’s sharp, geometric shapes and color blocking.

  1. To achieve this, Molina used a flat wrap blow-dry technique for a sleek, precise base.
  2. A bang piece was seamlessly blended using wig glue, ensuring a natural finish. Bumble and bumble Spray de Mode Flexible Hold Hairspray provided shine and hold.

The Bun & Bang Look

A variation on the first style, this look combined the strong bang with a sleek, intricately twisted bun.

  1. The process began with Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer to smooth, add shine, and protect the hair, followed by a flat, tight-to-the-head blow-dry for a polished, sleek base.
  2. For the bun, Molina applied the Bumble and bumble Thickening Full Form Soft Hair Mousse, working it through the ponytail before twisting and securing it into place.
  3. The result was a deceptively simple yet highly detailed updo, finished with Bb.Spray de Mode Flexible Hold Hairspray for sleekness and control.

The Curly/Natural Look

  1. Starting with Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer, the product was applied to damp hair to hydrate the hair and prep for styling.
  2. Then Bumble and bumble Curl Defining Cream was applied to add definition, moisturize, and reduce any frizz.
  3. The curls were then finished with Bumble and bumble Brilliantine, an oil based styling cream, for added polish and sheen.
  4. Once the products were applied, the hair was combed through with a pick section by section and then diffused. This product combo was selected to create a supple healthy looking finish with lots of natural sheen.
