Tai Simon Turned to Joico for Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s Winning ’24 Oscars Color and Hairstyle

03/11/2024

When Da’Vine Joy Randolph won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “The Holdovers” at last night’s ceremony she gave an acceptance speech for the ages. “For so long, I’ve always wanted to be different. And now I realize I just need to be myself,” she said. And working with celebrity hairstylist Tai Simon for the 96th Annual Awards Show, she showed up as the boldest Hollywood blonde there ever was and will be.

According to Simon, “fun, flirty and glamour in essence of May West was the inspo.” This is immediately apparent, but Randolph improved on the archetype. Simon added, “We wanted to embody the fullness and joyfulness of Da’Vine’s award season and end it with a voluminous blonde moment.” And what a moment it was!

Scroll to unlock exactly which Joico products Simon used to color and style Randolph’s hair for the Oscars red carpet.

Get the Look:

  1. “Going to such a prominent blonde, bonding security is the name of the game. After lifting the hair to a level 12, I revitalized the hair with Joico’s Defy Damage Protective Shampoo & Conditioner to keep bonds in tact.
  2. Before prepping I went in with Joico’s KBOND20 Power Masque for an extra boost of protection.
  3. I then prepped with by emulsifying Joico’s Defy Damage Protective Shield & spraying Joico’s K-Pak Color Therapy Luster Lock Multi-Perfector Spray throughout.
  4. I styled the classic curls using a T3 interchangeable barrel curler. Then held the hair by pinning and utilizing Joico’s Power Spray. Finished off the look with Joico’s Power Lift to seal the deal.”
