The Best Hairstyles From the Delayed 2023 Emmy Awards

01/16/2024

After facing a temporary postponement due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike, the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards—which typically takes place in September— was finally back in action on January 15th. This year’s show, which celebrates the very best in television, was held in Downtown Los Angeles and was hosted by comedian Anthony Anderson.

The star-studded evening delivered some well-deserved and historic wins—looking at you Quinta Brunson, Ayo Edibiri, Ali Wong— as well as some memorable acceptance speeches from the likes of Niecey Nash and Jennifer Coolidge. Of course, for us, the true standout of the night was none other than all the gorgeous hair that was spotted on the red carpet.

From sky-high ponytails to Old Hollywood waves and so many pretty updos, there were a ton of incredible hair looks that caught our attention at this year’s show. Keep scrolling to take a look at some of our favorite hairstyles from the 2023 Emmys.

Alfie Fuller

Alfie Fuller tapped into the balletcore trend with the help of her hairstylist Ro Morgan who created these dreamy pigtail buns that were wrapped with light pink ribbon.

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain kept it sleek and chic with a deep side part paired with side-sweeping bangs and pin-straight lock. Her hair look was styled by hairstylist Renato Campora.

Riley Keough

This 60s-inspired half-up style that hairstylist Gregory Russell created for Riley Keough was such a moment. We love the addition of the black hair bow!

Amber Midthunder

As if Amber Midthunder’s slicked-back plait that hairstylists Kat Thompson was impressive enough, check out the stunning custom hair piece from Sota Scowi Designs that was incorporated into the look. Thompson added a beaded floral barrette with hanging pearl to her hair and wrapped a beaded rope around her plait for a finishing touch.

Amber Ruffin

We absolutely love this sculpted updo that hairstylist Embree Theory created for Amber Ruffin.

Katherine Heigl

Katherine Heigl returned to the Emmys red carpet after a decade with this beautiful curled bob that was styled by hairstylist Jonathen Hanousek.
