There’s no doubt that the hair industry has a major plastic problem. According to recent data from Euromonitor International, in 2018 the U.S. alone generated nearly 7.9 billion units of rigid plastic from beauty, hair, and personal care products (via WWD). Luckily, a number of sustainable hair brands are doing their part to help eliminate plastic waste — most notably, zero-waste haircare brand Unwrapped Life.
In honor of Earth Day (April 22nd!) Unwrapped Life is teaming up with Plastic Bank to launch a limited-edition shampoo and conditioner bar combo called “The Healer,” to aid in keeping harmful plastic out of our oceans. Every purchase of this wash-day duo will prevent 1,000 plastic bottles from entering the ocean.
According to a press release, this new partnership solidifies Unwrapped Life’s ongoing commitment to helping eliminate plastic pollution with the support of Plastic Bank’s global network of micro recycling markets. Together the two eco-conscious companies hope to achieve their goal of preventing over 2.5 million plastic bottles from entering our oceans.

The limited-edition “The Healer” bars will not only help make the planet a cleaner place, but will also do some good for your strands as well. Inspired by the healing powers of Earth and Water, these bars are infused with a revitalizing blend of essential oils including orange bitters, distilled lime, tonka, and vanilla. In addition, the shampoo bar also contains Vitamin C-rich amla oil to improve your overall scalp and hair condition, while the conditioner bar features a unique blend of Abyssinian seed, broccoli seed, and Tamanu to control frizz and add shine.
