Mara Roszak’s clients wanted to know which products they actually needed. After years of answering that question and wishing she could tweak the formulas in her own kit, the celebrity hairstylist decided to create RŌZ.
On Volume Up by The Tease, Mara Roszak founder and CEO of RŌZ Hair, talks about the relationships behind her career, product development, and why listening remains central to both.
The Client Sets the Tone
Working with clients including Emma Stone and Michelle Yeoh, Roszak knows how much pressure can surround a red carpet. Her approach begins with the person in front of her. How they feel, what they’re comfortable with, and the energy they need in the room.
The same care applies in the salon. A client may have saved up for an appointment or carved time out of a busy day. Roszak sees that time as theirs.
“You are holding the space for your client to be able to be fully themselves, feel seen, feel genuinely cared for,” she said.

Built From Real Questions
That listening carried into RŌZ. Clients wanted clearer routines, while Roszak kept wishing the products in her kit were lighter or offered a different level of hold.
She started with Santa Lucia Styling Oil and packed the initial mailers in her living room.
Getting the product into other hairstylists’ hands mattered from the beginning.
Growing a Brand With a Stylist Mindset
Today, she still works closely with chemists and fellow pros to refine formulas. Some products, she says, have taken 125 iterations to get right.
“I believe a hair routine start to finish can be done with a few products,” Roszak said.
Her goal is a focused line of products that do several jobs well. And as the business grows, staying behind the chair keeps her connected to what inspired it.
