L’Oréal Professionnel’s Metal Detox service works wonders on the clients’ hair, but what is the experience like from start to finish behind the chair?

For the client, there is an extra service to effectively neutralize metals in the fibers of the hair, leaving them with soft, silky hair with 87% less breakage and 100% reliable coloration results**. We know it’s compatible with all color and lightening brands, but what else? For the craftsperson behind the chair, what is the experience like?

There are four different elements in the Metal Detox service.

We have the Metal Detox Pre-Treatment, the Metal Detox Sulfate-Free Shampoo, and the Metal Detox Conditioner or Mask. Let’s take a deeper look into how and when to use all of these amazing products, shall we?

The Metal Detox Pre-Treatment is the most important factor. Before you begin the coloring service, apply the pre-treatment to the dry hair. It’s kind of the MVP. The pre-treatment’s job is to neutralize those metals. It doesn’t take much of the treatment to fully coat the hair, and it really has no impact on the service time or texture of the bleach when moving onto the next step. Just let the pre-treatment air dry while you prepare your formulas and you’re ready to go!

After that? Well, you just go on ahead and do your thing! Apply color or lightener to the hair without rinsing the pre-treatment— keep calm and carry on!

Then, after you work all of your magic on the hair, use the metal detox sulfate-free shampoo! Here’s where those neutralized metals get kicked to the curb, the shampoo removes the metals from the hair— like they were never there!

Of course then we have a choice in the protective care: we have the metal detox conditioner or the mask. If the client has fine hair, we recommend applying the lighter conditioner in order to strengthen and nourish the hair after coloration. If your client has medium to coarse hair, though, we recommend applying the mask – a thicker, more intensive care treatment. But, of course, the mask doesn’t weigh down the hair at all – just leaves it hydrated and silky! The mask also comes in two size options, so you can either cash-in for an 8.5 oz or a 16.9 oz tub.

Best of all?

You can also send your clients home with the At-Home Protocol, which includes the shampoo and mask! So they can care for their new “do” at home in between visits— don’t we love self-care?
