Advocacy Groups Unite to Mobilize Salon Pros Against Additional ICE Funding

01/28/2026

In the wake of the fatal shooting deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and or Customs and Border Patrolling (CBP) officers in Minneapolis, as well as troubling incidents across the country, there are growing calls to do everything from defund to abolish. In addition to the “One Big Beautiful Bill” passed earlier this year, which created a $75 billion slush fund for ICE, a vote for additional funding to the order of $10 billion more, is slated to be before the Senate tomorrow.

Increasingly, individual salon professionals, and advocacy groups founded by salon professionals, are entering the conversation, trying to mobilize their peers to take action. In a joint post, Hair Has No Gender, founded by Jamie DiGrazia, and The Dress Code Project, founded by Kristin Rankin, are encouraging their followers to do two urgent things:

  1. Contact their senator to vote no on any additional funding for ICE
  2. Contact the Professional Beauty Association and ask for greater transparency and accountability in how legislative advocacy is presented to members going forward

The carousel post also includes phone scripts for both situations, to eliminate anxiety and increase the likelihood of people actually getting in touch.
