The Tease: What made you want to introduce a hair oil, given how saturated the market is?
Chris McMillan: Every hairstyle needs an oil, don’t be afraid to use it. Just like your body needs water, your hair needs oil. When you drink water, your skin glows, when you add oil to your hair, you get that same effect. It hydrates, adds shine, protects, and smooths. It also fights frizz and fights humidity. For me, it’s really that simple, oil is essential.
How do you recommend that pros actually use The Glassy Smooth Hair Oil with clients?
McMillan: I always say, when you’re working with a new product, spray it into your hands first and get a feel for it. That’s how hairdressers work, we use our hands, it’s instinctive. Once you understand the texture and how it distributes, you’ll feel more comfortable working it through the hair or spraying it directly.
Everyone’s going to want to know… how are you using it behind the chair?
McMillan: If you have fine hair, I would start with the hands. The thicker the hair, feel free to spray it directly into the hair. It’s really about getting comfortable with the product and using it in a way that feels natural behind the chair. Oils should always be applied mid-length to ends, where the hair needs it most. Then you’ll see how fine the mist is, and how easy, and fun it is to work into the hair.
