Gabe Gordon’s FW26 show was perfectly timed considering the Winter Olympics in Milan. The collection, called “Frostbite,” was heavily influenced by winter sports, specifically figure skating, and gothy, grunge elements with a horror movie-spiked edge.

The hair, by Davey Matthew for milk_shake, shared these references with some models very clearly channeling 90s sports stars like, the infamous, Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan in shape and styling. Although, thankfully, there was quite a lot of variety in terms of hair textures.

The Tease connected with Matthew on the runway hair following the show. Read on for our conversation.
The Tease: Tell us about the hair design for the show.
Davey Matthew: When coming up with the concept, we wanted to tell a story full of imagination that brings fun back into the looks.

Describe the key hair looks for the show in three words.
Davey Matthew: Imaginative, fluffy, dramatic.
How did the FW26 collection inform the direction for the hair?
Davey Matthew: The hair was directly inspired by the collection and Gabe Gordon’s love and ability to pull inspiration from cult classic horror movies like “The Shining.” This collection also pulled inspiration from the ice skating world, and you can see it all in the hair story. It’s imaginative, fun, and a break from the “clean girl” slick backs. We added a lot of texture, volume, and incorporated an ode to Tonya Harding with bangs worn on select few models.

Was there a hero product for this show’s hair looks? If so, spill! How did you put it to work and what do you love about it?
Davey Matthew: milk_shake’s Lifestyling Powder Pop was truly the star of the show. After the hair set, I applied the powder to the roots and throughout the hair for additional volume that gives the drama we were looking for.
