Aimee Lou Wood was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work as the star-crossed, hippie-adjacent Chelsea in the third season of “The White Lotus.” For the 83rd annual she and hairstylist Gareth Bromell channeled a bit of her on-screen boho character, but added a touch of goth instead of the beach.
Bromell tells The Tease, “For this look, I wanted the hair to feel romantic, a little gothic, and beautifully undone — a girl with a rebellious spirit.” He adds, “Taking inspiration for Aimee’s dress, designed by Vivienne Westwood, soft but subversive, elegant but never overly polished. Think gothic bride meets whimsical texture, with movement and emotion running through the hair.”
Read on for a breakdown on the look, including the exact products Bromell used.
Get the Look:
- “Hair health was the foundation of the look, starting with Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Deep Conditioning Treatment, my ultimate prep essential. Originally created for Audrey Hepburn, Elasticizer ensures the hair is deeply conditioned, elastic, and protected before any styling begins.
- The key to achieving this texture was creating movement without overworking the hair, which is why I relied on ghd styling tools throughout. I used the ghd hairdryer to build a soft, healthy base, encouraging natural movement and fluidity, blow drying the bangs with medium round brush to fame the face.”
- From there, Bromell “focused on soft, irregular texture and natural movement, shaping the hair organically and avoiding anything too polished using Phillip Kingsley Maximiser volume spray.”
- Then he introduced the ghd waver to create irregular bends rather than uniform waves and brushed it out with the paddle brush, adding Philip Kingsley Frizz-fighting Gloss to the ends of the hair. “The focus was on touchable texture and flexibility — hair that feels expressive and emotional, with a lived-in quality that still holds on the red carpet.”
