How JCPenney Salon Master Stylist & Nail Tech Rockie Spends Her Day

01/29/2024

Rockie Ondrey-Prete has been working at JCPenney Salon since 2009. That’s fifteen years if you don’t want to do the math — and that longevity means something! Keep scrolling to read about an average day in the salon for Rockie.

Getting Started

The Tease: How many clients do you see everyday?

Rockie Ondrey-Prete: “It varies from day to day as far as how many clients I have and it depends on what their procedures are because some techniques take three hours, four hours… anywhere from three to eight people a day, just depending, because I’m not here for a full day to begin with.

How do you feel after you finish up a client’s hair?

Ondrey-Prete: My general feeling is a good feeling, especially when I’ve done somebody who is like really excited about their new look or how I’ve done their hair. That always makes me go home with a smile on my face.

Wrapping up the Day

Ondrey-Prete: I usually will check the towels before I leave, make sure that all the dirty towels are in the washer, there’s no towels left in the dryer, or capes in the dryer to be folded. I usually will try and go and check for color supplies in the back room. I’ll make a list of what we’re low on and go to the supply room and restock the back room.

And at the end of the day, I usually clock out. And then I will get my tips and go home for the day.
