How Monaè Everett Activated Danielle Pinnock’s Bob for NYFW

02/27/2026

Actress Danielle Pinnock has made a career of stealing the spotlight, and her appearance at the Sergio Hudson FW26 show was no exception. Working with celebrity hairstylist Monaè Everett, the “Ghosts” star’s hair was set in a sculpted bob that was giving main character energy.

Everett tells The Tease, “The vision was bold structure with glamour and height that would hold under front-row photography while still framing her face beautifully.” She adds, “I wanted the hair to feel as powerful as the room she was walking into. [Her character] Alberta is bold and commanding on Ghosts, and I wanted that same confidence translated into structure and height. The sculpted S-wave gave vintage glamour, but the sharp bob kept it modern. It was about owning space without saying a word.”

Read on for a detailed breakdown directly from Everett, featuring the exact techniques and products she used to create this stunning hairstyle.

Get the Look:

  1. “I began by cutting the hair into a precise chin-length bob. Clean structure is essential when you’re building height. If the base isn’t strong, the style won’t hold.
  2. I applied Oribe Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse at the roots for density and lift. Then I layered Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray for smoothness and protection. I blow-dried with tension and beveled the ends under using a flat iron to sculpt the bob shape.
  3. I sectioned out the crown area. This is where the drama lives. Clean sectioning allows you to build height without disturbing the perimeter.
  4. Using a 1-inch curling iron, I created on-base curls in a diagonal brick-lay pattern through the crown. This prevents visible gaps and builds internal support. Each curl was clipped and allowed to cool completely to lock in longevity.
  5. While the crown cooled, I backcombed the remaining sections using a Denman Backcomber, focusing at the base and mid-shaft while leaving the ends free. This keeps the style soft instead of stiff.
  6. I brushed the bob down with a Denman Finisher Brush to smooth the surface without collapsing the support underneath.
  7. After releasing the cooled crown curls, I gently backcombed them and sculpted a tall S-wave pinned on the right side to create asymmetry and a strong silhouette.
  8. I finished with göt2b Blasting Freeze Spray to lock the structure in place while maintaining shine. This look balances vintage influence with modern structure. It’s bold but polished — perfect for front-row fashion energy.”
