John Paul Mitchell Systems Names Circularity Leader Sean Ansett as Senior Director of Sustainability

12/05/2022

Congratulations are in order as a new face has joined the JPMS family! The professional haircare brand recently announced the appointment of Sean Ansett as the company’s Senior Director of Sustainability. Ansett will bring more than 20 years of experience in the sustainability field in this newly created position with JPMS. By providing strategic advice to corporations, social enterprise startups, UN agencies, and non-profit organizations, his reach has impacted shifts within responsible sourcing, human rights, and environmental sustainability across the globe.

“From day one, JPMS was committed to being a conscious company, it’s just in our ethos,” said Michaeline DeJoria, John Paul Mitchell Systems CEO. “We are grateful to have Sean join the JPMS family and to share his experiences to help guide our future initiatives, so that our portfolio of brands continues to evolve and ultimately we become a leader in the sustainability space.”

As CEO, DeJoria has spearheaded the JPMS brand’s global sustainability pledge, led the launch of its first-ever clean beauty line, Paul Mitchell Clean Beauty, and has fostered exciting partnerships with like-minded, eco-conscious nonprofits such as Reforest’Action and Bees for Development. Since joining, Ansett has led JPMS’ inclusion with SPICE, a reputable sustainable packaging initiative that develops solutions to drive the future of sustainable packaging for cosmetics in three key areas.

For those who don’t know, Ansett has decades of experience in global sustainability leadership which spans across apparel, electronics, and consumer products. Prior to founding some of his own ventures, he held executive roles in corporate responsibility with Apple, Gap Inc., Burberry, and Fairphone. Now, in his new role as Senior Director of Sustainability, Ansett will join forces with Michaeline in sustaining these brand pledges and partnerships while actively shifting the brand’s packaging format resulting in the inclusion of more sustainable packaging, a transition to PCR, and an overall reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with all of the brands under John Paul Mitchell Systems to strive towards the goal of having a positive impact on the planet,” said Ansett. “JPMS has a strong heritage and a vested interest in their environmental and social impact, and I’m honored to be a part of this team delivering more sustainable operations and products to our loyal consumers.”
