If there is one thing that you can expect from Indonesian streetwear brand, Erigo X, it’s that they always bring a unique edge. And, that’s just what they did with their Spring/Summer 23 runway show.
Titled “True Through You”, the label’s latest offering is “dedicated to all those who seek to discover individual identity and authenticity.” Building on this concept, the brand used the process of cocoon metamorphosis as inspiration. This translated to a collection featuring a cut-out silhouette wrap on denim and leather pieces for a stronger silhouette as well as an interesting mix of fabric patches and prints representing flowers and butterflies.
To compliment such a graphic collection, lead hairstylist and UNITE Hair Creative Director Gary Baker designed uber-cool slicked back wet hair to send down the runway.
“A wet vibe has been huge this season. I’ve never done so many shows with slicked back wet hair,” Baker shares. “It’s been all over the place. And my reason for that is, in fashion, generally when the world goes into depression or things get bad, hair always gets minimalistic and gets shrunken. And, when we get richer, we go with bigger hair. So, that’s my take on it.”

To achieve this look, Unite Hair products were used backstage. Specifically, when it came to creating the wet-looking sheen for the hairstyle, Baker and his team predominantly relied on a special mix of hairsprays and conditioning agents.
“We mix it up into these lovely little cocktails to create wet looks that don’t move,” he says. “They stay solid.”

Some of the products on hand included UNITE Hair U: Dry Plus+ Dry Shampoo ($30.00), UNITE Hair Le:Play Hairspray ($31.50), UNITE Hair Max Control Strong Hold Spray ($30.50), UNITE Hair Texturiza Texturizing Spray ($35.00), and UNITE Hair Expanda Volume Root Energizer ($30.50).
According to Baker, this wet hair look couldn’t be more suited to Erigo. “Erigo is traditionally pretty edgy,” he says. “They like to push the boundaries. They are very colorful in that part of the world.”
