RŌZ founder and celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak styled 2026 Critics Choice Awards nominee, Rose Byrne, for last night’s red carpet and ceremony, creating a dreamy updo look that was the perfect reintroduction to award season.
The dress was a custom Valentino design with a subtle ’90s-inspired bodice that brought a modern ease to its classic, old Hollywood silhouette. Timeless yet fresh, it felt refined without being overly formal. The hair and makeup mirrored this balance, with makeup inspired by Brigitte Bardot’s effortless glamour— soft skin and defined eyes — paired with a relaxed, intentional updo that felt polished but never stiff. Given this weekend’s events, the hairstyle by Roszak felt tonally appropriate.

- “To prep her hair and start with a fresh clean slate, I used the new RŌZ Salt Scalp Scrub to cleanse.
- I then applied two pumps of RŌZ Santa Lucia Styling Oil and RŌZ Milk Hair Serum to Rose’s damp hair before blow drying it smooth with a medium sized brown brush. I wanted the blowout to feel very soft with a tiny bit of body and movement.
- Next, I used a dime size amount of RŌZ Evergreen Style Cream throughout her middling and ends to add a little bit of definition and smooth any frizz. I pulled her hair back into a mid height ponytail leaving a little bit of height at the crown for that classic very subtle volume.
- I then sculpted a bun and left a few pieces softly coming out as the bun took shape. I tucked one side behind her ear, leaving a few face framing pieces, falling, loosely cascading her face. This leaves the hair very romantic and soft. The RŌZ Evergreen Style Cream again to finish defining ends and adding that touch of soft definition.”
