The music video for Charli XCX’s “Chains of Love,” the lead single from her hotly anticipated album Wuthering Heights, just dropped and her forever-long hair was the star — not an accessory. We’re talking what amounts to something like hair choreo?! Impossible to ignore.

Charli’s longtime hairstylist Matt Benns was responsible for the hair design and used Bumble and bumble. products to craft the super romantic, elongated waves that anchor the singers’s look. In fitting with this new project, and Emerald Fennel’s film adaptation it supports, Benns wanted to capture hair with more romance, an obvious shift from her previous Brat-era hair.

Read on for insights into how the hair came together from Benns himself, including the exact Bumble and bumble. products he used.
Get the Look:
- “I started with Bumble and bumble Bb.Prep, to detangle and refresh hair for the other stylers I’m using to create a mix of textures.
- I then blow dried and diffused different parts of Charli’s hair using tongs, and then added in a mix of braids and iron over them, spraying sections with Bb.Spray de Mode hairspray which helps seal in the wavy texture while staying flexible.
- Once I unraveled the braids, I went in with Bb.Thickening Dryspun Texture Spray to encourage some airiness and texture.”
