Mielle Organics has officially found its newest brand ambassador. The multicultural haircare brand recently announced that it has signed a major beauty deal with Louisiana State University basketball star Angel Reese.
For Reese, who was just named to the Team USA roster for the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmericCup, this collaboration with Mielle marks her first beauty partnership. Working as the brand’s new ambassador, the college basketball star will front Mielle’s online and in-person events as well as curate her very own limited-edition bundle of her favorite products, which will be available for purchase this summer.
“Angel is a rising star with bold beauty, confidence, strength, and must-have edges who uses and genuinely loves Mielle products,” shared Mielle’s founder and CEO Monique Rodriguez. “Angel’s fun personality and ability to connect authentically with her fans make her a perfect addition to the Mielle family. She is THAT girl, and we are so thrilled to have her as our newest ambassador.”
Nicknamed the “Bayou Barbie” for her long flowing tresses and “edges and lashes on fleek,” Reese is known not only for her skills on the court, but also her glam off the court. She was recently featured in the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. And, last month, the 21-year-old athlete led LSU to a national championship victory in the 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. Not to mention, she was also named the Most Outstanding Player in the tournament.
Reese has often used her platform to speak out about beauty and haircare brands missing out on opportunities in working with college athletes and athletes overall. During a recent interview, the athlete gushed over her curls and expressed that she’d loved to work with Mielle. After noticing Reese’s affinity for the brand, Mielle reached out to the college basketball star and an organic collaboration between the two was formed. Now, both Mielle and Reese are helping to lead the charge in bridging the gap between sports and sporty. Hopefully their partnership will be the start of many more beauty brands opening up opportunities to women in sports.
