A few weeks back The Tease team reported that the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) would move from Premiere Anaheim to Premiere Orlando. Now, the PBA has officially announced that submissions for NAHA ‘24 are open. For more on the most prestigious professional beauty competition in North America, keep reading.
As a refresher, categories are as follows:
- Avant garde – this category is for stylists who don’t play by the rules, who make their artistry big and bold with no apologies
- Barber of the year – showcase your ability to use both shears and clippers to create crisp designs, fades and more
- Editorial stylist of the year – editorial and session hairdressers are showcased here, allowing for their looks to take on the extraordinary
- Educator of the year – everyone had a teacher, an educator, a mentor, this is where we get to pay respect to the best of the best
- Hair color – unique, bold, bright, flawless color application and final looks are celebrated and revered
- Haircutting – hair cutting is a way to highlight shape, style, and technique; innovation is always celebrated
- Hairstylist of the year – artists must display a plethora of skills and techniques to qualify as hairstylist of the year
- Inspiring salon of the year – salons are where artists come together, share space, and help each other grow; salons that inspire others, helps inspire our community
- Makeup artist of the year – makeup artists in the field, this is your time to shine
- Master hairstylist of the year – only top artists, educators and artistic directors; this is the best of the best
- Student hairstylist of the year – the next generation of artists need a space to grow and share their talents
- Styling and finishing – no room for mistakes in this category, because this is all about precision and attention to detail
- Team of the year – some work better alone, while others work best in a team; this highlights the ability to display versatility and consistency within a group of artists
- Texture – for experts in everything curly, coily and wavy
How to Enter
It is easy to enter, once your collection is ready. Visit PBA’s website for its entry brochure, laying out all of the rules as well as helpful tips. When you are ready to submit, the PBA has steps laid out nicely.
- Click the Enter Now button
- Create a NAHA account
- There is a code for members to receive member pricing that needs to be entered (new members can sign up here too!)
- Upload all requirements

Importantly, all collections entered must have been created between November 2022 and September 2023. The deadline for entry is September 21, 2023 — so there is less than two months to go!
The Facebook Live finalist announcement will be held on February 28th, 2024. Winners will be announced live at the ceremony on June 2nd, 2024 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
