Runway hair doesn’t have to be complicated to feel considered. At the J. Mendel Spring 2027 show, Laifen partnered with the luxury fashion brand on a braid that’s weathered, restrained and still romantic. Editorial hairstylist, and hair lead, Joey George created the “Weathered Twist” with Laifen’s all-new Swift 4 Hair Dryer — reflecting the woven placement of the chiffon fabric seen on the gowns.
Keep reading to get George’s step-by-step process in creating this runway ready look with the Laifen tools used.

Get the Look:
- Cleanse and condition the hair, then towel squeeze to remove excess water. Apply a luxury primer leave-in treatment through the mid-lengths to ends.
- Use the Laifen Swift 4 hair dryer ($199.99) to dry the hair back and away from the face. The nozzle depends on hair texture:
- Kinky/coily textures: attach the Laifen Smoothing Concentrator Nozzle for a smooth, high-polish finish.
- Straight/wavy textures: attach the Laifen Swift 4 Diffuser Nozzle to encourage a natural bend and an ethereal texture.
- Starting at the crown, gather the hair into an “inverted” French braid. Continue the rhythmic pattern, gathering sections toward the center of the head and downward to the nape.
- Tie off at the nape with a ribbon of chiffon from the J. Mendel Spring 2027 collection, then loosely rope braid the ponytail length.
- Finish with a flexible hair spray, then “cure” the product into the hair using the Swift 4 Hair Dryer with the Diffuser Nozzle attachment to secure the look.
