Actor Alexander Skarsgård isn’t known to play it safe on the red carpet. Famously he went pantsless to an MTV awards show several years back and recently he wore sky-high leather boots to an event. The man clearly knows how to have a good time.
So when he showed up with bright red nails, by celebrity nail artist Natalie Minerva, at last night’s Governor Awards, it wasn’t a total shock. More like a very a happy surprise. We wish more guys would embrace nail art.
Minerva tells The Tease, “For the Governors Awards, I was requested to do a classic red. Alexander said the specific phrase ‘Ferarri red’ and so we went with the classic Big Apple Red by OPI.” Keep reading for the details.

- “I manicured him first and then we painted one coat of OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat, then two coasts of Big Apple Red.
- Lastly, we finished with OPI’s Top Coat.”

Minerva says, “If a man is toying with the idea of doing a color or nail art, I always suggest starting with something very simple and clean. Maybe it’s clear with a thin black band across the nail. This is still nail art but simple and very fashion forward.”
She adds, “Or sometimes I might suggest very small emblems that feel a bit more male centered. Think spiders, 8 balls, etc.” “Doesn’t need to be crazy to be cool! If the man is up for it though, go for bold! Why not?! Life is too short!”
