Just when we thought this second-generation stylist, beauty creator and Sr. VP, Store and Services Operations for Ulta Beauty couldn’t get any cooler, Nick Stenston started a hair brand, Nick Stenson Beauty. Creating what he calls a collection of hero products, there are 12 hair care products formulated with the finest, most ethically sourced, innovative ingredients, including soothing, strengthening aloe vera gel. Nick’s goal is to create products that empower everyone to be confident in their own hair.
The brand launched on Ulta.com on November 27th and will be in select Ulta stores starting January 8th. We were overjoyed to have Nick join the podcast for our first episode of season 2. He discusses his journey into the hair industry, into education and eventually to Ulta Beauty (seriously such a fun listen). Then we deep dived into his brand, the inspiration, the process, the ingredients and more.

“As a hairdresser, growing up in this industry, I always felt like, this new line came out and I loved this one product, this new line came out and I loved that one product. There would always be the ‘hero’ product. And I said ‘one day I just want to create a line of hero products.’ I just want a small tight assortment of products. That’s like ‘bam’, here’s everything you need, and here’s why.”
“What we call the ‘hero ingredient’ is Aloe Vera gel…vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, B12, all built to hydrate, protect, add enhancements of moisture, enrich the hair, restore the hair.”
“I had the honor of doing a photo shoot with my mom this year, celebrating just kind of her journey and then her and I as second generation. Well one of the images is actually going to be in the in-store display of my mom as the model. SO that’s super cool and she doesn’t know.”
