The 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics are in full swing! As exciting as it has been to see all the Olympians show off their athletic prowess, break records, and win gold (we’re looking at you, Suni Lee!), we’d be totally lying if we said those were the only things capturing our focus during this year’s games. I mean, have you not seen all of the amazing Olympic hair?
Many of the athletes have been also using their time on the world’s biggest stage to serve some seriously cool hair — styles that go beyond just looking pretty, but also celebrate self-expression and at times, culture.
So, without further ado, here are all our favorite Olympic hair moments that we believe definitely deserve a medal of their own!
Japanese basketball Stephanie Mawuli showed off her Olympic pride with a super colorful braided ponytail featuring the colors of the Olympic rings. We love how all the shades pop against her super cool gray braids.
Aussie golfer Cameron Smith gave a special nod to his home country by having “AUS” shaved into the side of his mullet.
The Japanese tennis superstar came in hot to the games sporting fiery red and white box braids in honor of Japan.
Turkish volleyball player Ebrar Karakurt is hard to miss on the court with her bright pink mohawk. Like, how could you not be obsessed with her style?
Dutch windsurfer Kiran Badloe paid tribute to animated wind master Aang from the cartoon series Avatar the Last Airbender with his epic buzzcut, featuring a blue forward-facing arrow shaved into his head.
Nigerian gymnast Uche Eke had color-coordination on lock with his green-tipped dreads which perfectly matched his uniform.
Turkish volleyball player Meryem Boz had us all seeing blue with her striking teal locks.
Brazilian skateboarder Leticia Bufoni looked cool as ever rocking her signature fuschia locks.
Peruvian skateboarder Manny Santiago brought some color to the skate course with his turquoise dyed strands.

Kenya’s volleyball team provided endless hair inspo with their assortment of eye-catching hair looks. Some of the ladies opted to dye their locks bold pinks and blondes while others paid homage to the Kenyan flag with their braid colors.
