We’re Just Days Away From the Return of Naeemah LaFond’s Groundbreaking ‘Texture On Set’

02/28/2025

The beauty and fashion industries are once again poised to experience a revolutionary event that will forever change the way textured hair is taught and celebrated. After the resounding success of last year’s event, Texture On Set, the first-ever professional hair industry event exclusively dedicated to texture education in fashion and beauty, created by Naeemah LaFond, returns for its second year on March 10, 2025.

A Movement Born Out of Necessity

Texture On Set was born out of a bold vision: to create a space where textured hair is not merely acknowledged but celebrated, where education transcends traditional techniques, and where every artist, regardless of background, is empowered to master the true art of texture. This idea was sparked by Naeemah LaFond as a direct response to the numerous complaints from Black models and models with highly textured hair about the treatment they were receiving on set and during New York Fashion Week. Stories of inadequate hair care, lack of proper education among stylists, and an overall disregard for the artistry required for textured hair revealed a systemic gap in the industry.

Naeemah LaFond, an award-winning editorial hairstylist and Global Brand Ambassador for OLAPLEX, recognized this disparity and decided to take action. Her first-hand experiences and the voices of underrepresented models inspired her to create Texture On Set — a platform designed to rewrite industry narratives and celebrate the artistry and cultural significance of textured hair. LaFond is not only a visionary leader but also a seasoned international educator with extensive experience in the hair industry. She served as the Global Artistic Director of amika for 10 years, where she honed her skills as an educator and creative force, inspiring stylists worldwide.

“When I started my journey in this industry, I faced the harsh reality of educational gaps and a lack of visibility for textured hair. It became clear that change was not just needed — it was urgent. Not just for me, but for every artist and model who deserves to see themselves represented at the highest levels of fashion and beauty,” says LaFond. She adds, “Texture On Set is that change. It’s a movement. It’s a community. It’s a celebration of the artistry and cultural significance that textured hair embodies.”

A Dynamic Event Designed to Inspire and Empower

Texture on Set will provide unmatched technical education from leading experts in textured hair, while also celebrating the cultural influence of textured hair in fashion and beauty. Texture On Set programming will include:
