The Tease: How did you get into hair?
White: In high school, I was always the stylist for all of my friends, for band practices, for competitions, for softball or sporting events, for everything. And it just kind of Started my love there.
What was the first ever beauty product you owned?
White: As far as hair, my first hair product had to have been freeze it hairspray.
One hair product you can’t live without?
White: The one product I love so much would have to be hair oil. With my curly hair and the dry climate. I love that and it soaks it up real great.
Favorite hair trend right now?
White: My favorite hair trend has got to be the modern shag. It’s so versatile and works for every hair type and every hair length.
What’s your ideal client?
White: My ideal client would definitely have to be those giant transformations where you’re coming in with something that you’ve just lived with and settled with for so long, but you want to realize your true self.
Favorite thing about being a hairstylist?
White: My favorite thing about being a hairstylist is watching people when they see themselves in the mirror and that giant smile. That then tells me that they love looking at themselves again.
Any advice for new stylists?
White: My favorite piece of advice is to stay curious. There’s so much information and so many new things coming at you that you’ve got to stay on top of it and stay curious.
What’s your favorite part about working at JCPenney Salon?
White: It would definitely have to be how much of a team we have here, not just in the salon, but also out on the floor.
How does JCPenney Salon support you as a stylist?
White: JCPenney supports me by offering continued education where I get paid to attend the education.
