Volume Up’s guest this week was Ona Diaz-Santin. Otherwise known as the Hair Saint, Ona is the CEO and owner of 5 Salon and Spa. She is a hairstylist and international educator who specializes in curly hair and is no stranger to the latest trends and styling tips.
Ona spoke with Jeffrey Lunnen about mentorship and how strongly she believes it has helped her and how she likes to pass that chance on to others. (P.S. one of her mentors is Stephen Moody, check out his podcast interview here)
Ona talked about all things hair and her emphasis on textured hair, but also on loving yourself and enjoying your hair however you want to. She expands upon her journey with loving her own natural hair and then with her focus working on natural hair and beauty and how that can be different for every individual. She gives her take on on-size fits all hair.
Don’t miss out on hearing about Ona Diaz-Santin’s life outside of the salon as well as where she thinks the beauty industry may go from here!
“For me, it’s putting a smile on people’s faces. As long as I put one smile on someone’s face, man, if I get more than one, I know I did my job and I’m going to go to bed really good.”
“I’ve had some amazing mentors in my life, Glory be to God, I, you know, great, great mentors in my life that I am so thankful that God had placed in my life, these amazing women and men.”
You know, I think it’s, again, a deeper thing. It’s not just how you look. It’s how you present yourself out there in this world.”
“I’m a big believer in just, you know, love who you are, love who you are, you’re not going to be perfect because guess what, that doesn’t exist and that’s okay.”
