Tracy Ramos on Finding Your Next Chapter in Beauty

11/05/2026

Before Tracy Ramos helped develop education for other stylists, she was a beauty school student wondering who got to write the textbooks. That curiosity eventually led her from working behind the chair into roles that shape what other professionals learn.

On Volume Up by The Tease, Sola Salons Director of Community & Brand Partnerships, Tracy Ramos, reflects on that journey and how she’s helping independent pros discover possibilities within their own careers.

Taking the Next Step

Ramos’ ambitions were shaped by her mother, a Costa Rican immigrant whose salon supported their family. She admired the business her mother built but recognized that its demands kept her from pursuing education and editorial work.

After establishing herself as an independent stylist in Los Angeles, she applied for a role at Wella. Creating educational materials brought her back to the goal she had set in school.

“I want to keep growing, and I want to keep learning,” she said.

Making Opportunity More Accessible

Her career has given Ramos’ experience in both the relationship between brands and working professionals. At Sola, which provides private salons and business support, she connects pros with resources and opportunities they may not know exist.

She discusses reshaping the Faces of Sola ambassador program, opening applications to the wider Sola community and seeking people whose work supports others. The program creates opportunities for pros to represent Sola at events and participate in editorial work.

Putting Professionals First

Tracy brings the same scrutiny to brand partnerships.

“How is this going to benefit the professional?” she asks.

For her, that means understanding what independent business owners need beyond products. The conversation explores how education and technology can help with administrative responsibilities that come with ownership. This gives professionals more time to focus on their craft and their personal lives.
