The show that the internet will never get over is the “Chicken Shop Date.” Hosted by Amelia Dimoldenberg, her iconic wit matched with an array of entertaining celebrity guests who stop by makes it a much-watch series.
The effortless curls Dimoldenberg flaunts in each episode are thanks to celebrity hairstylist Jay B. From Khloe Kardashian to Sofia Richie, some of the biggest stars come to him for his expertise.
The Tease had the pleasure of speaking with Jay about his go-to products, utilizing extensions, and hair trends he wants to see this spring. Read on for our conversation.
The Tease: We have to talk about your amazing work with Amelia Dimoldenberg. What has your experience working with her and the rest of her glam squad been like?
Jay B: Amelia is a dream to work with. Her and her team are amazing which also helps with long hours and long shoots. I always work closely with the makeup & styling to decide on a look together. It’s really important it all flows smoothly as a whole overall look. Sometimes Amelia just wants a relaxed look & sometimes we push it a bit more for say a red carpet or a Fashion week event.
When achieving her signature curls, what specific beauty products would you consider to be your essentials and why?
Jay B: For products, I would say Oribe Dry Texture Spray is one of my favourite products at the moment for creating curls. Color Wow Dream Coat is always a staple in my kit alongside Living Proof Hairspray and Jay B haircare split seal serum for finishing touches.
I always like to add some extra hair to anyone’s hair (even if they have thick hair) clip-ins are amazing as they help hold the style & also with videography the hair always looks flatter/thinner on anyone due to light shining through the hair.
So, I love to use Beauty Works clip-ins on all my clients. You can also apply more heat and product to the clips taking less stress off the natural hair.
With summer about to arrive, what hair trends are you hoping to see more of this season?
Jay B: I definitely want to see more of the relaxed hairstyles, the natural textures, the looser waves creating messy, undone 90s styles rather than big blow outs. I also think we are going to see exciting takes on fringes, as they are certainly back whether it is blunt, micro-fringes or split bangs.
