Breaking Out or Breaking Through? Your Hormones Might Know

08/13/2025

They say ‘beauty comes from within’, but that’s not just a witty phrase. Beauty does come from within, in ways you might not even know! With the help of one very inspirational and driven brand founder, we learned what makes hormones so important when it comes to healthy, glowing skin.

Elle Shelley Black is a creator, product designer, and an EndoWarrior. In 2023, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis, resulting in a major surgery that laid her up for weeks on end. As a doer, Black considered this a “prison sentence”. However, she used this time to create something special instead of letting it get her down. Black created Same Skincare, a line of hormone-friendly skincare for women who suffer from chronic hormonal conditions. In addition, they are proud partners with EndoFound, an organization funded by donations and dedicated to endometriosis research.

Although Same Skincare was the bright start of this new entrepreneurial journey for Black, she recently decided to sunset the brand in pursuit of something new, yet the same. During our interview with Black, she revealed a new app called SAME. SAME is an AI-powered platform that predicts skincare challenges based on biometric data. Once it has the data, the app will recommend products and protocols to prevent those problems ahead of time. This app will also continue its predecessor’s partnership with EndoFound.

“We’re going to learn something that we don’t know, and that, I’m excited about,”

Elle Shelley Black

SAME is currently recruiting users to give the app a try. With thousands already on the waitlist, Black hopes that everyone will be in by the end of summer. This comes right in time for the app’s beta version release in the fall. Black encourages everyone to give the free app a try so they, too, can learn about their hormone-skin connection.
