Evanie Frausto Makes Claw Clips ‘Sexy-Hot’ at the Sandy Liang FW25 Show

02/10/2025

Consider the impossible, possible. For the Sandy Liang FW25 runway, editorial hairstylist and frequent Liang collaborator, Evanie Frausto made the claw clip cool. Actually, hot — “sexy-hot” in his words, but we’ll get there in a second.

Frausto’s hair design suggests the Sandy Liang FW25 girl has places to go. While hair was up and back for most models, it wasn’t clean girl. In fact, it was kind of feral.

Frausto explains, “The inspiration behind the look today is creating a really hot hair look, that is literally hot but also sexy-hot. When creating the looks for the show, we envisioned a New York girl that just got off work, dressed head-to-toe in layers and a little sweaty, but looking incredible and fresh!” To achieve this look, Frausto teamed with cult-brand amika.

Read on for a detailed breakdown on this lived-in looking runway hairstyle directly from Frausto.

Get the Look:

  1. “The hero look for the show is an updo that’s either a high ponytail or in a claw clip using the fluxus touchable, flexible hold hairspray and headstrong intense hold hairspray, a combo that depends on the hair texture of the model
  2. The hairspray is used to get the hair up and then I applied the superfruit star lightweight hair styling oil to give that lived-in, little bit of cool look.
  3. To take it one step further, I used a bit more oil than I typically do at home to make the look feel grungier.
  4. To recreate the updo, I started with the fluxus touchable, flexible hold hairspray
  5. I then gathered the hair, starting the ponytail at the crown of the head, moving a little bit higher and a little bit flirtier.
  6. Then, section by section with a wide-toothed comb and fingers, I integrated the hair-tying it off with a hair tie.
  7. To take it further into the claw-clipped look, I used superfruit star lightweight hair styling oil and applied it on the ends
  8. Next, I made a quick, effortless twist and anchored the look with a claw clip — embracing the flyaways and natural texture
  9. To make it piecier, I pulled out pieces, then used superfruit star lightweight hair styling oil to accentuate
  10. To achieve the smashed, cool texture, I recommend using paper wraps and letting it sit for an hour or if you are more in a rush, you can use your blow dryer for 15 minutes. Take it off and you’re ready to go!”
