Feed Your Hair Ego Recipes

911 Glowing Skin Quinoa Bowl 

For the Bowl:
  • 1 cup quinoa (uncooked)
  • 2 cups water or low-sodium vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp sunflower seed oil
  • 1 cup steamed spinach or kale
  • 1/2 avocado, sliced
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut (unsweetened)
  • 1 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 1 small sweet potato, roasted
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or almonds (optional)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • Drizzle on top for richness!
For the Dressing:
  • 2 tbsp sunflower seed oil
  • 1 tsp coconut oil (melted)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 tbsp tahini (a nod to shea butter’s creamy texture and nourishing  properties)
Directions:
  • Cook the quinoa: Rinse quinoa under cold water, then bring to a boil with water or broth. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until fluffy. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Roast the sweet potato: Cube and toss in sunflower seed oil, roast at 400°F (200°C) for 25 minutes until golden.
  • Make the dressing: Whisk together sunflower oil, melted coconut oil, lemon juice, maple syrup, turmeric, and salt. 
  • Assemble the bowl: Layer quinoa, roasted sweet potatoes, greens, avocado, shredded coconut, sunflower seeds, and nuts.
  • Top it off: Drizzle with the glowing dressing and optional tahini topping.

Ingredients:
  • For the kale pesto:
  • 2 cups kale, stems removed and roughly chopped
  • 1/3 cup sunflower seeds (lightly toasted for flavor)
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp grated parmesan or nutritional yeast (for vegan)
  • Salt + pepper to taste
  • Optional: a pinch of crushed red pepper for a little heat
For the salad:
  • Kale
  • Sautéed mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, or zucchini (optional veggie add-ins)
  • Extra sunflower seeds or parmesan for topping
  • A few slices of avocado (extra creamy skin food)
  • Roasted Chickpeans
Directions:
  • Make the pesto: In a food processor or blender, pulse kale, sunflower seeds, garlic, lemon juice, and parmesan/nutritional yeast. Slowly stream in olive oil while blending until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Combine: Massage kale and dress with kale pesto
  • Top with veggies, sunflower seeds, chickpeas and avocado

  • 2 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (melted)
  • 1 tsp avocado oil (edible, cold-pressed)
  • 1/2 tsp almond oil (cold-pressed, food-grade)
  • 1/2 tsp grapeseed oil (food-grade)
  • Optional: 1/4 tsp vanilla, 1 tbsp ground flaxseed or chia, pinch of sea salt
Directions:
  • In a mixing bowl, combine oats, coconut, and any dry extras (like flaxseed).
  • In a small bowl, whisk together almond butter, honey, and all your oils (melt coconut oil first).
  • Mix wet and dry ingredients together until it forms a sticky dough. Chill slightly if too soft.
  • Flatten into a thin layer in square baking pan lined with parchment paper.
