Get Golden Globes Host Amy Poehler’s Red Carpet Look

03/01/2021

Smart Girl” Amy Poehler returned to host the 2021 Golden Globes, with long-time friend and collaborator, Tina Fey, looking better than ever. With the help of celebrity hairstylist Kylee Heath — another long-time collaborator — Poehler pulled off three impossibly chic styles. We got the scoop on our favorite look, Amy’s red carpet and opening monologue (dialogue) hairstyle, directly from Heath who used Olivia Garden professional tools and Philip B. haircare products exclusively.

“For Amy’s look tonight, we wanted to give a slight nod to the retro-adorable vibe of her dress. The loose waves provide a soft yet polished look” said Heath. The dress in question? Custom Moschino styled by Karla Welch.

How to get the look

Starting on damp hair, I applied Philip B. Weightless Conditioning Water to prep Amy’s strands and to add an initial layer of shine. I then blew out her hair using the Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Professional Hair Dryer ($109.95), while also smoothing her hair out and adding volume with the new Olivia Garden ESSENTIALS Styling Round Smoothing Brush ($17.95).

Next, I created a center part and worked my way from the back of Amy’s head to the front adding waves using the Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Professional Flat Iron ($109.95), curling 1 ¼” pieces in sections away from her face.

Then I set Amy’s hair with a control spray and went in with the Olivia Garden CarboSilk High Quality Professional Comb ($8.25) to perfectly section and place strands. I teased her roots around the crown and then tucked the front pieces behind the ears. I brushed out the waves and then gave another light tease for added volume.

To ensure that the look was smooth and sleek, I applied the Philip B. Lovin’ Pomade for extra shine and to tame any unwanted flyaways. To finish off the look, I sprayed the Philip B. Russian Amber Imperial Insta-Thick and smoothed roots down one last time with the Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Professional Flat Iron.
